We like to start that discussion with our clients. They may have a particular wish to donate to a certain organisation. We also have good working relationships with all of the charities and groups – and we also know what type of goods are needed and try to send those items to the specific organisations.
This will depend on the location of the estate and any existing Covid Level restrictions in the area that might restrict travel or services.
There are a number of ways that Estate of Grace can receive payments. In some cases, we may be paid directly through lawyers or trustees from the proceeds of the sale of an estate. We accept direct online payments from all major banks but do not accept Credit Card payments. -In some cases, we may require a deposit or partial payment in advance but we will discuss this with our clients as part of our engagement process.
Generally, profits of the sale of items (less any costs e.g.: TradeMe listing fees or labour costs to facilitate sales as in the case of running a 'garage sale') are returned to the estate or client
Once the property is assessed, we determine the amount of work that is required to meet the specific client's requirements. The work type and effort required will determine the number of hours and team members needed. For example, is it just the interior of the property to clean and clear? Does the client want items to remain for staging of the house? Does the yard require work? The answers to these questions will be addressed in the initial engagement agreement with the client.
Intact canned goods and items within appropriate date ranges may be donated to Food Banks. We have in some cases, invited the Red Cross to organise families in need to take away items that are not suitable for food bank donations but still suitable and safe for consumption.
We try to be conscious of the environment and to avoid unnecessary disposal of items for landfill. That is why we sort items for donations to appropriate charities or organisations such as Cargill Enterprises for e-waste. However, we are not always able to break-down all items in terms broken furniture or in the case of fouled items. We do use the recycling bins at the waste transfer station and send metal to local recyclers.
