I was referred to Andrew Whiley from a Harcourts colleague when a home in the suburb of Trentham, Upper Hutt was coming to the market. This was an estate sale of a unique home that held the interest of many people in the area. For years, neighbours and passers-by thought it was a ‘haunted house’. It had not been maintained for years; the home’s gardens were left to ramble with overgrown trees and vines engulfing the classic 1950’s home which was in absolute original condition. When I first met Andrew and visited the home, it was full of the owners’ possessions from floor to ceiling – this was one mighty estate sale clean out and not a job for the fainthearted. One could say it was like a hoarder’s house, possessions knee deep in every room. Cobwebs strung from room to room; holes in the ceiling and foliage growing through gaps in walls.

However, Andrew and his teams were in total control from the start. Their job would be big, this was going to be a mission. I visited several times to see how they were progressing over the course of about three weeks. Material possessions were sorted appropriately and gifted to various organisations, those items that didn’t make it went to the tip (and there were several truckloads), the gardens tidied to a point where you could at least walk around the house and get in the door.

The house was finally emptied to allow me to take it to the market. Andrew co-ordinated the whole process with multiple teams to get the work done and I was impressed with the efficiency and speed of his work to tie in with my timelines of getting it on the market, not to mention his professional attitude and the manner in which he operated – calm, sensible and respectful. Good work Andrew & Estate of Grace – a highly recommended Operator!
